Entrecard follows the old adage, "you get out, what you put in." In the case of Entrecard you still get, even if you don't put much in.

There's a lot of value in using Entrecard, if you go after it. The blogs, networking and socialization pay in droves as far as I'm concerned.

The advertising is more fun to me than it is fruitful. The real benefit tends to come in many other ways.

Better use your credits to advertise on other sites. Then they are so much more worthy. And mix Entrecard with Digg and StumbleUpon for an even better traffic recipe.

Interesting calculations. I guess it depends on how you view Entrecard. Whether it's purely about money/gain or whether you enjoy the experience. I know I've made new friends and found new blogs with some very valuable information as a result of time spent Entrecarding and it's hard to put a $ value on those. :)

Many Entrecarders can drop at a 10 per minute pace or better, but it doesn't change your basic premise about the decision to use one's time dropping cards versus some other activity to popularize one's blog. And while it's true that most Entrecarders have a high bounce rate, most will also tell you they have been introduced to many new blogs that they do read as a result of belonging to the Entrecard community. Personally, when I find a blog that interests me I subscribe to the email feed so I can read it when I'm not in a Power Dropping mode.

I do not think that they generate readers. Have you looked at the bounce rate from EntreCard clicks? The bounce rate is very high because visitors click for the credits and move on quickly. EntreCard is an interesting community but, I don't think that it is that it generates anything except easy traffic.

The beneficial part about Entrecards is that it is more than profligate traffic-- rather, it generates READERS and not just hits. By visiting blogs to drop your card, you get a healthy taste of others' blogs, day after day. Stumbles are GREAT for traffic, but Stumblers are rarely looking for a good blog to loyally read. Entrecard system is nice in that it generates READERS as well as traffic. I don't like the emphasis on buying credits, etc, because you lose the beauty of browsing.

I think if you have a good blog and put your entrecard widget above the fold, you have to spend very little time getting reasonable amounts of traffic from entrecard (but the quality of traffic does suck a bit)..

Min you, for those prices - it may be worth buying a million credits or so to see what it does to your traffic!
