Reap Traffic from Comments you Seed

Posted by | June 4, 2012 .

I started this Blog on November 1st, 2007.  I read every post I could find on blogging and one thing that kept coming up was that a good way to increase traffic to your Blog was to leave posts on other blog sites.  So, sixty days later I decide to check to see what benefit leaving posts on the other blogs sites did for my traffic statistics.  I added Google Analytics to my site on November 13th and here are the results as of today.

Eleven out of the top 20 sources of traffic to my blog came from comments that I left on blog posts on the sites listed here.

If that doesn’t convince you of the importance of commenting at other blogs, nothing will! So go out and comment now!

I am extremely inspired together with your writing skills as neatly as with the layout for your blog. Is that this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s uncommon to peer a great blog like this one today..

yes, leaving comments is a good way to create traffic to your own site. but it only works if your comment is interesting and helpful to the reader. there are three ways to achieve this:

    - add a new aspect relevant to the topic
    - be controversial
    - add more information to the current topic

Commenting is still the best source of traffic regardless of how many traffic generator they invented.I think in blogging, “the comment my blog,I comment on yours” is always applicable. :)

I think that that is true but, the quickest way to get traffic is to say something interesting that will entice a reader to click on the link to your site.

I also read that commenting is a good way of creating backlinks to your site, is this correct?

Yes, I have found that I have not been very good at leaving comments recently and my traffic has dropped as a result. I am trying to get back into the routine of doing this regularly.

I also have noticed that some of my traffic comes from just leaving comments on other sites. Unfortunately, I’m also lazy and don’t do that very often.

I should do that more frequently.

I don’t see any quality traffic from EntreCard. It is a big boost to the numbers, but the bounce rate is high because people click on the cards to boost their credits and move on to the next card. I think its popularity will fade with time.

The question is, how much traffic do you receive?

Although I’m surprised you see good traffic from entrecard. I thought it was another blogrush. Maybe I’ll give it a try.

My traffic from referrals comments is about 25% of my total traffic. Since I am new at blogging (started Nov 2007), I expect this number to rise over time.

My referral traffic from all sources (links, comments, etc.) is 73%. Direct sources of traffic were 17% and Search Engine traffic is at 10%

Anyone else care to share their statistics?

Yea I’m experiencing a similar effect. What percentage of your traffic came from blog referral comments?

I’ve also found that referral traffic from other blogs stays much longer.
