Not John Chow May 2008 Income Report

Better Late Than Never! Not John Chow Income 2008 May

I am starting to wonder with what my life is (you know what happens while you are making other plans) if I really can squeeze in the time to properly maintain a blog. I could whine and complain about how my son was sick and how I got sick and how my wife was out of town but, that really is irrelevant if you are trying to build something that will some day maintain a healthy profit. All I can really say is that I think that I failed at the task this month. You can see what the numbers are and that they are unimpressive. Let’s leave it at that.

I’m in a pretty similar situation as you. I’ve got a busy life being in university and blogging takes up a lot of my time. I must say I think you’re doing a good job so far, though. You seem to know what you’re doing. The thing with blogging is that you need to be patient, and more patient. The reason people don’t succeed in this industry is because they don’t have patience. Sometimes things don’t go your way, but that’s life. Keep ya’ head up like you’ve got a nosebleed.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Some days it seems easy and other days not so easy.

John, try out the Yahoo Seach Marketing. It is similar to Google’s Adwords, but easy to use and a lot cheaper clicks. I have had more conversions on Yahoo than Google.

Create a landing page (A new page like you made Advertise, Make Money, ect). Tuck an adsense horizontal text link that looks like a nav bar. Then tuck a text ad in the middle or bottom of the landing page. Possibly tuck in an affiliate offer within the text or ad (keep it related to the page though like an increase my margin or make money on ebay campaign). Write a great article to sell the visitor, and invite them to view the rest of your page. But don’t say click here to visit or something, but like learn more or continue reading, ect.

By doing this you could capture a few different kinds of revenue. One would be through adsense clicks. Two would be through an affiliate offer. And Three would be to get them to view the rest of your site, in turn giving you more readers/posters/rss or ppc/affiliate profits.

Set your budget for like $5 or $10 a day, and test it out for a week. Try to get cheap keyword clicks. Some of mine I can get .15cent - .30cent clicks. Through that week, watch your keywords and track. Remove keywords that people just leave, or don’t benifit you any. Once you get the right set of keywords, you could easily get an extra 50-100 visitors a day. After testing for a week or two, and the traffic isn’t boosting your ppc or affiliate offers, just kill the ad.

Keep on trying. You are making more than me but my blog is only about 1.5 months old anyways.

It is time to move to the next level. I think we should both try affiliate marketing using Adwords
