Not John Chow June 2008 Income Report

Posted by Not John Chow | July 9, 2008 .

Okay, I confess.  The truth is that my heart just isn’t into it.  I have been lazy and uninspired of late.  I have been following the "John Chow school of making money," but I am not convinced that this is the way to profit.

I am more convinced that Zac Johnson is a better model to follow.  Of course, I am Not Zac Johnson, but I can learn from anyone.  No, I am not going to start www.notzacjohnson.com.

So, I need to get motivated to do better than this:

Rev Response: $6.00
PW:                 $2.83
Adsense:         $0.70
Smorty:           $9.06

Total:             $18.59

1,521 Page Views

I have not yet regained my motivation but, I will some day.  I think that my next post will be about getting past that wall.

One thing that I know I will change is to dump the Pay Per Post sites.  They simply are not worth my time and they are over crowded with too many users competing for crumbs.

Have you ever run into a wall?  What did you do to get beyond it? What is the answer?

I’ve always had motivation issues, simply because blogging is not my top priority in my life. That makes it tough to post or get involved in social networking.

I’m going to post my annual earnings pretty soon, and discuss why they were what they were. I’ll be doing it in two articles because it’s really long. Check it out at http://www.pjmorrow.com.

I read both Chow and Johnson, and I find I get more out of the latter. John Chow is more of an entertainer to me, and his ebook is pretty solid too.

You might want to start a new blog perhaps under your name :) That might inspire you. Stuff you put up here is very interesting and not even close to what John Chow is posting on his blog. I love your stuff!

I think maybe keep Pay Per Post sites until other avenues start to take off. I know that the Pay Per Posts I have done have brought me in huge amounts of traffic.

One post I did in December is regularly being searched in search engines and brings me in thousands of hits a month.

I agree Pay Per Post sites are very over crowded at the moment, I’m part of 19 so I think I’m quite lucky that I don’t have to fight as hard as people who use only PPP and Smorty.

Dean, how do you make that work? I can never grab an opportunity before they are all gone!

The reason you are not making money online is not because of pay-per-post sites. The reason is that you are acting very dumb. What kind of domain is NotJohnChow.com? That is probably the dumbest tactic ever. This idea has been long exhausted with JohnCow.com and if you want to make a name for yourself on the internet, I would strongly suggest creating your own brand instead of piggybacking on his. All you are doing, honestly, is providing more traffic for him.

People see your stupid domain and say, “I haven’t checked John Chow yet today”.

On top of that, your design is horrible.

I’m not trying to be a dick, but seriously, you must have some sort of intelligence to make money online, and you definitely are not acting intelligent trying to make money from this site.

i dont really know where i get my motivation from, i guess just from looking at other sites and making my self think that my readers are waiting for new post.

I recommend trying to make a buck before you start blogging. You need some credibility, first. Take a look at some of the recently (popular) bloggers:

UberAffiliate - posts his screen shot of revenue all the time.
ShoeMoney - has giant AdSense check.

Get my drift? $18.59 is not enough to brag about.

I wouldn’t call $18.59 bragging! If you read my early posts or my about page you would learn that I started this blog to learn and to test the ideas of John Chow.

If you misinterpreting my remarks as bragging my writing must be very bad!

As far as credibility, I think writing honestly about what I think and experience is credible. The long I write, the more consistent my readers find my remarks, the more credible I become.

You don’t become credible by waiting to blog. You need to jump in and experience it first hand.

    Get my drift?

I have been following John Chow for 3 months before but now I stop because I feel that I have learned enough of him. It’s time to research on other blogs.
