Not John Chow is Stressed!

Posted by Not John Chow | July 27, 2008 .

Yes, I am stressed. Who in Michigan is not? Even those of us who are not facing impending doom via the loss of a job and the likely foreclosure on our house are stressed. Looking around I see fear in everyone’s eyes. Everyone wants out of this situation but, what is the answer?  Most if not all outsiders would say "leave the state." That sounds obvious but, consider this: Who is going to buy my house in today’s economic environment and where is there that I can go that is better than here? And what about the friends, neighbors, and family that we leave behind?

These are difficult questions for difficult times.  When I find the answers I am sure they will involve difficult choices as well.

What are your choices today?

I know the feeling. With the decreasing value of the dollar, I feel stressed as well. Pay is staying the same while all my bills are going up. If I didn’t have an income coming in from online sales, and such I would be the captain of a sinking ship. I maybe the captain of only a rowboat but at least for the moment it is still afloat. Hope all is well.

I am lucky that I have been in my house for 7 years and so the value has doubled since I bought it, meaning that it would take a pretty big drop for me to be in trouble. However, my work is drying up and although my husband has a secure job, with prices rising we are finding things tight. I have resorted to more frugal living and hoping for a miracle!
