Changing the WordPress Theme

Posted by John Haley | November 6, 2007 .

I have been changing my WordPress theme a lot while I try to find the right theme for my site.  Up until now, I only used themes that were available through DreamHost because I did not understand how to get other themes into the correct folders to make them available for use.

To use a theme developed by one of the many supplied through the internet you need to use a ftp program to upload the files.  I chose a freeware option called FTP Commander 8.  In the picture below, you can see the folders involved.  Take the folder with the theme in it and upload it into “themes” folder which is contained in the “wp-content” folder of the “YourDomain”.com directory.

Now all you have to do is to select it as your theme option from the WordPress control panel.  The theme that I settled on is called Adsense.  I found it at Themey.com.  It is designed for use with Adsense and should speed up the money making.  Or at least I hope it does!
